Online MCD services within the first 100 days of elections, 100% garbage processing and free cycles to meritorious girls are among the 12 key promises the Bharatiya Janata Party put out in its manifesto for the MCD elections in Delhi.
Releasing the manifesto, union minister commerce minister Piyush Goyal said that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government deprived the MCD of funds that are due to it. “They have failed to deliver their promises, and basic amenities are missing. The people of Delhi are suffering, we will improve all of that,” Goyal said.
He alleged that the leaders of the AAP sold tickets of the party. “They are supposed to give Rs 42,000 crore, but there’s no money,” Goyal said.
In its ‘Sankalp Patra’, the BJP said that it will provide flats for all slum-dwellers, and that 17,000 flats had been distributed till now. Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta announced 50 ‘jan rasois’ (community kitchens) which he said will be run by women and provide food at Rs 5 per meal. He also promised free bicycles for meritorious girls in MCD schools, and announced the upgradation of these as smart schools by 2027.
Apart from that, the BJP said that within 100 days of coming to power, they will ensure all services of the MCD will be available online on a mobile app. The party also promised to remove the need for trade, health, and factory licenses, and promised to construct 1,000 ghats for Chhath Puja.
