CCB sleuths arrest two youths for selling MDMA to the public and students in Mangaluru

The arrested are Nawaz (40) from Pavoor village in Manjeshwar taluk in Kasaragod district and Azaruddin alias Azar (38) of Pudu village in Bantwal taluk. Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said the police team had seized 120 grams of MDMA worth Rs six lakh, three mobile phones, a digital weighing machine and a two-wheeler from the arrested. The total value of seized property is Rs 6.83 lakh.

The Police Commissioner said a raid was conducted by a team based on a tip off on the duo selling drugs to public and students near Kadri Park. In fact, there was a case under the NDPS act against Nawaz in Konaje police station. There was a dowry harassment case against Azaruddin in Konaje station, NDPS case in Bantwal rural, Mangaluru south and two theft cases as well. Commissioner said that a search operation is on to arrest more peddlers.

Two teachers suspended over sexual abuse charge in    Shikaripur, Karnataka

Deputy Director School Education & Literacy Department has issued an order suspending two teachers on charges of abusing girl students sexually.

Shanthakumar and Nagaraj serving as teacher and headmaster in government model higher primary school at Soppinkeri are the suspended government employees. The headmaster has been suspended for not taking sexual abuse complaint given by students against the teacher seriously. Shikaripur Block Education Officer G S Shashidhar told DH that a report had been submitted to the higher official after visiting the school and collecting details based on sexual abuse complaint. Following it, the higher official has taken disciplinary action against the teachers.

In a suspected suicide pact, the body of a couple from Kerala and their child were found in a homestay at Kaggodlu on Saturday. The deceased are Vinod from Kollam, his wife and child. While Vinod and his wife were found hanging, the body of the child was found lying on the bed. They had arrived at the homestay on Friday. It is suspected that after killing the child, the duo ended their lives.

The policeman has been rushed to a nearby hospital after the attack, they said. Constable Mohammad Hafiz was fired upon by militants at Hamdaniya Colony in Bemina locality, the officials said.
