L20 engagement group's inception meet begins in Amritsar

The Labour20 (L20) engagement group's inception meet on Sunday began deliberations on key issues concerning the global workforce to provide direction to the G20 nations and institutions to focus on development reaching the last person.

The L20 is a key engagement group of the G20.

Unseasonal rains hit parts of Gujarat; CM holds review meet on crop losses

A fresh spell of unseasonal rains lashed several parts of Gujarat for two consecutive days including Sunday, raising concerns about the loss of crops.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday held a review meeting to assess the situation. Several parts of Kutch, Patan, Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Surat and other districts received more than 15 mm rainfall on Saturday evening, while 81 talukas witnessed showers in 24 hours till 6 am on Sunday, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said.

JSPL gets approval to manufacture India's first fire-resistant steel structures

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) on Sunday said it will manufacture India's first fire-resistant steel structures at its unit in Raigarh, Chhatisgarh.

With the production of a special steel item for the first time in India, the company will target segments like refineries, bridges, metro projects, industrial structures, steel, power plants, hospitals, commercial and residential buildings, JSPL said in a statement.

RSS chief Bhagwat advises farmers to adopt cow-based farming

Changing farming methods is necessary not only for India but the world, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday and advised farmers to adopt cow-based farming.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader was speaking at a farmers' conference organised by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh in Hastinapur.

"Cow-based farming does not disturb the cycle of nature. Our farmers are worried. All their demands cannot be met, so the cost of cultivation has to be reduced. This is possible only with cow-based farming," Bhagwat said.

Maharashtra: Autorickshaw driver booked for rash driving after toddler killed in accident

An FIR was registered by police against an autorickshaw driver in Thane district of Maharashtra for negligence which caused the death of an 18-month-old boy, police said on Saturday.

The boy was being taken to a hospital by his mother and grandmother on March 15 in the autorickshaw of the accused which met with an accident due to rash and negligent driving, an official said.

Protests for separate district break out in Rajasthan's Sujangarh

A day after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the creation of new 19 districts, some residents of Sujangarh in Churu staged a demonstration on Saturday to demand a separate district.

The protesting residents blocked a highway to press for their demand. The local market in Sujangarh was also shut.

Among the protesters was Iqbal Khan, a local councillor belonging to the Congress.
