Bhattacharjee, who had an almost 30 minute meeting with the Prime Minister at Parliament House this morning, is understood to have raised the issue of political support being allegedly given to the Maoists in his state.
The Chief Minister, however, refused to divulge anything about his discussions with Singh.
His meeting came on a day when Left MPs in Lok Sabha raised the issue of alleged links between a Minister of State and an arms dealer in Bangladesh, a charge denied by the Minister and his party, the Trinamool Congress.
Bhattacharjee has expressed concern over regular instances of the Maoists carrying out attacks in West Bengal and escaping to the jungles of neighbouring Jharkhand.
He has earlier said that the joint security operations currently on in Bengal would not have much effect if similar operations are not carried out in Jharkhand and bordering Orissa as well.
The Chief Minister is also advocating greater cooperation between the Centre and his government in carrying out developmental activities in the extremist-affected areas.
He has been saying that a majority of the local populace were living in fear of the Maoists who were not allowing them to carry out their normal day-to-day activities.
Bhattacharjee is here to attend the CPI(M)'s Politburo meeting today.
