During the discussion of 'matters of urgent public importance' BJP's Tejasvi Surya urged in Lok Sabha for reopening of HAL airport or making another terminal of KIA as people from south Bengaluru need 2-3 hours to reach the present airport.
"Between 2009-14, the capital investment in theRailwayswas only Rs.459.80 crore. That wasn't enough for the railways. We doubled it to 995.11 crore between 2014-19. Capital investment of Rs 2 lakh crore has been made this year,"Railway Minister said in Rajya Sabha
"The question raised here is, what is the need for a bullet train? I want to put the question before the House - what are the aspirations of our next generation? Don't their aspirations have to be modern?" Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in Rajya Sabha
State-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI) received revenues worth around Rs 13,439 crore from Delhi and Mumbai airports in the last five financial years, according to the civil aviation ministry.
Under Public Private Partnership (PPP), Delhi and Mumbai airports were handed over to the private partners in 2006.
"During the last five years i.e. from 2016-17 to 2020-21, AAI has received revenues of approximately Rs 8,093 crore from Delhi airport, Rs 5,346 crore from Mumbai airport," Minister of State for Civil Aviation V K Singh told Lok Sabha. (PTI)

India should set up resident missions in the remaining 48 of the 193 UN member-nations in a time-bound manner in line with its aspiration to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council, a parliamentary committee suggested on Wednesday.
The committee, in a report tabled in Parliament, also said that the budgetary allocation to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for 2022-23 was insufficient keeping in view India's rising global profile.
The parliamentary committee on MEA recommended to the government to set up resident missions in the UN member countries where India is yet to open such presence.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday accused the country's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru of internationalising the Kashmir issue by taking it to the United Nations and said India's neighbour was still misusing it.
