District Magistrate of Allahabad Sanjay Prasad virtually sought votes for the BSP at a meeting of district officials.
The meeting was convened to review the progress of the Mayawati government’s ambitious and much-touted Kanshiram Yojna for the urban poor in the district.
Prasad’s statement during the meeting was caught on camera and was aired on the TV channels.
“What is the point in spending Rs 25 crore if the government does not even get the votes of 1,500 families,” Prasad said. He was obviously referring to the construction of houses under the Kanshiram Yojna under which the government builds houses for the urban poor .
“We have been saying for a long time that the officials have been working as agents of the ruling party. Mayawati has politicised the bureaucracy,” alleged a Samajwadi Party leader here.
