Of the 21, six legal officers are for its Delhi office, whereas four each are for Patna and Mumbai zone, three for Lucknow zone, two for Bhopal and one each for Chandigarh and Bangalore zone.
The contractual appointment for the officers, popularly known as 'Pairavi officers', would be for an initial period of one year which can be further extended up to three years at a consolidated remuneration not exceeding Rs 40,000 per month.
An advertisement in this regard has been put out by the Department of Personnel and Training.
The retired officers of the Central/State Police Forces of the rank of inspector or above with 10 years of experience in investigation and prosecution of criminal cases are eligible for appointment, it said.
