In the wake of heavy rains in parts of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a review meeting on October 19 in Haldwani. Speaking to ANI, state Director-General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar said, “Situation in Garhwal is almost under control, routes have been reopened and 'Char Dham Yatra' will be resumed from tomorrow. Rain aftermath is more in Kumaon areas - Nainital, Haldwani, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat.” “Around 40 casualties have been reported so far with about 25 from Nainital. The water level has reduced in Kumaon, but routes have not been opened yet, it will take time... Police, SDRF, NDRF teams are working on relief operations and thousands of people have been evacuated,” he added.
