In the backdrop of the ongoing counting in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections, here are a few things you should know about the state:

1. The BJP has been in power for three consecutive terms in the state, with Raman Singh being the Chief Minister of the state for all three terms.

2. Between 2003 and 2013, the number of electors has seen a steady increase, going from 1.35 crores in 2003 to 1.69 crores in 2013. The overall voting percentage in 2018 saw a slight dip in 2018.

3. After the 2013 Maoist incident, Chhattisgarh Congress was led by second-rung leaders like Bhupesh Baghel, T S Singhvdeo and Tamradhwaj Sahu.

4. The Congress has not announced any CM candidate for the state, while Raman Singh is fighting for his fourth term from Ranjandagon.

5. Chhattisgarh has the highest Naxalite presence in India after Jharkhand, and reports of conflicts with security forces are common. Raman Singh had banned Naxal organisations under the Salwa Judum scheme.
