Congress on Friday fielded journalist Supriya Shrinate, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and sitting MP Ranjeet Ranjan in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Shrinate, Executive Editor of business news channel ET Now, will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Maharajganj seat.

“I will be taking an active plunge in politics, am grateful to Congress, Rahul Gandhi Priyanka Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia for trusting me with Maharajganj,” Shrinate said on Twitter announcing that she was stepping down from her post as Executive Editor of the news channel.

“It will be an honour to keep my late father’s legacy alive. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution,” she added.

Congress announced the names of 12 candidates, including four from Bihar where it was finalising the alliance with RJD.

While Meira Kumar has been fielded from Sasaram, Ranjeet Ranjan will be in the fray from Supaul.
