Italy has registered 33,979 new coronavirus infections over the past 24 hours, the health ministry said on Sunday, down from 37,255 on Saturday.
The ministry also reported 546 Covid-related deaths, from 544 the day before.
Karnataka reported 1,565 fresh Covid-19 cases as the overall tally reached 8,61,647 while 21 deaths pushed the toll to 1,529, the Health department said on Sunday.
The state continued to show a sharp decline in the Covid-19 cases and fatalities from over 10,700 cases and above 200 deaths a day two months ago to a mere 1,500-odd cases and 21 deaths now.
Thirty more people died of coronavirus in Punjab in the past two days, raising the toll to 4,458, while 1,054 new cases pushed the infection count to 1,41,658, a health department medical bulletin said on Sunday.
Eight fatalities were reported on Saturday while 22 deaths took place on Sunday, it said.
There are 5,769 active Covid-19 cases in the state as of now, according to the bulletin.
The deadly coronavirus claimed two more lives in Chandigarh, pushing the death toll due to the pandemic in the Union Territory to 248 while 168 more people were tested positive for the infection in the last two days, a medical bulletin said on Sunday.
With the discovery of new Covid-19 patients, the total number of cases rose to 15,804 in two days, said the medical bulletin.
To deal with the recent spike in coronavirus cases in Delhi, the Centre on Sunday said it will soon make available 300 additional ICU beds and double the number of daily RTPCR tests in the national capital.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said some of the hospitals under the municipal corporations of Delhi will be converted into dedicated Covid hospitals and doctors and paramedics of paramilitary forces will be deployed in the national capital to deal with the shortage of manpower.

At the same time, 722 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the state's count of recoveries to 1,71,691, he added.
Eight more people died from coronavirus in Haryana on Sunday as 1,957 fresh cases took the state’s infection count to 1,99,874, according to a bulletin.
So far, 2,019 people have succumbed to the disease in the state.
On Sunday, three deaths were reported from Bhiwani; two from Faridabad and one each from Gurgaon, Sonipat and Sirsa, according to the state Health Department's daily bulletin.
Ten more people died from coronavirus in Rajasthan on Sunday as 2,184 fresh cases took the state’s infection count to 2,25,817, according to an official report.
So far, 2,066 people have died from the infection in the state, it said.
Two deaths each were reported from Ajmer, Jaipur, Ganganagar while Alwar and Nagaur reported one fatality each.
Dharavi slum colony here on Sunday reported one new Covid-19 case, the second time in the last four days, a Mumbai civic body official said.
The tally of cases now stands at 3,620, he said, adding that Dharavi had reported a single Covid-19 case on November 10. The slum colony added four infections to its tally on November 14.
Maharashtra reported 2,544 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, which took the state's infection tally to 17,47,242, the health department said.
The death of 60 patients took the fatality count in the state to 45,974, it said.
A total of 2,707 patients were discharged during the day, it said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday took stock of Delhi's Covid-19 situation in the wake of recent spike in cases in the national capital, officials said.
