"In September, our rate of positivity was 8%. Now in the past few days, the average rate of positivity has come down to 3.5%. Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday claimed that the Covid-19 curve in the state has started flattening with constant fall in the positivity rate of coronavirus cases.

The positivity ratio has come down to 5.8 per cent on October 4 from a high of 9 per cent in September, he said.

Swiss pharmaceuticals giant Roche said Tuesday it would produce a new antigen test for Covid-19, allowing high-volume and rapid testing for the deadly disease, by the end of the year.

The new Elecsys SARS-CoV-2 Antigen test is meant to be administered by healthcare professionals in a lab setting and allows the detection of the virus that causes Covid-19 in as little as 18 minutes, Roche said.
