The CPI(M) on Wednesday fielded Minakshi Mukherjee, the State Secretary of its youth wing the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) from the crucial Nandigram Assembly seat.

She will take on political heavyweights West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

The alliance of the Left Front, Congress and the ISF declared their candidate list for the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections.

However, apart from Left Front candidates, the names of Congress and ISF candidates were not announced.

The CPI(M) also fielded SFI leader from JNU Aishe Ghosh from the Jmuria constituency.

The party fielded veteran leader Kanti Ganguly from the Raidighi Assembly seat who have lost there twice in 2011 and 2016 Assembly elections to Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) celebrity candidate actor Debashree Roy.
