Usually, practical examinations for Class 10 & 12 are conducted in January and February and the theory examinations are held in February-March.

“Based on the present conditions, holding the examination in January or February is not possible. That has been decided. We will hold consultations after this and make a decision,” the minister had said on Tuesday during a virtual interaction with teachers.

He had noted that the practical examinations for Class 10 and 12 are conducted by the respective schools and colleges.

Schools across the country were closed in March to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Schools partially reopened in some states from October 15, but few states have decided to keep them closed in view of a spike in the number of infections.
