BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Goyal is the chairman of the RTI cell of the Delhi Youth Congress. Congress however clarified that Goyal was sacked by the party in 2022.

At a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi questioned the connection that Goyal had with Congress. He inquired if the Congress was using the money from drug trade to fund its assembly elections preparations.

“Yesterday in Delhi, drugs worth Rs 5,600 crores were seized. This quantity is important as during the UPA government, between 2006 and 2013, only drugs worth Rs 768 crores were seized across India, while during the BJP government from 2014 to 2022 drugs worth Rs 22,000 crore have till now been seized,” Trivedi said.

“What has now come to light is that the main accused and kingpin in the drug syndicate, Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell…What relations does the Congress party have with him? Was this money being used in elections by the Congress party? Do some leaders of the Congress have any arrangements with the drug peddlers,” the member of Parliament asked.

“The Congress, especially the Hooda family, should explain their connection with Tushar Goyal,” he added.

In response, the Indian Youth Congress, in a post on X, shared pictures of Goyal with BJP leader Anil Jain and former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, and threatened legal action against the BJP.

“Criminal Tushar Goyal was removed from the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress RTI department in October 2022 itself due to anti-party activities. After 17 October 2022, the said Tushar Goyal has never been associated with the Youth Congress organization in any capacity. In the information released in the media quoting Delhi Police, the said Tushar Goyal himself has admitted that he was never associated with the Youth Congress after 2021-22,” the IYC said in the post.

“... it (is) clear that BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi and BJP IT CELL, through a press conference, while hiding the facts, described him as a current office bearer of the Youth Congress, which is clearly a frustrated attempt to tarnish the image of the Indian Youth Congress organization, against which we are bound to take legal action,” it added.
