The incident took place near a prominent mall in Saket when the victim was going to her house on December one -- a week after the abduction and gangrape of a call centre employee in Dhaula Kuan.

The victim, who works at a Noida-based call centre, was returning after collecting her debit card from a bank in Saket when two Africans intercepted her and tried to drag her to an isolated place, a senior police official said.

"They passed lewd comments. First, she ignored them and then they caught her by her arms when she raised an alarm," the official said. When she shouted for help, the official said, the duo slapped her and threatened her with dire consequences besides hurling abuse at her.

Hearing her cries, two policemen patrolling the area rushed to the spot. "Seeing the two policemen, the Africans fled from the spot leaving the woman," the official said. A police team along with the woman surveyed the Saket area, but the culprits could not be found, the official said.

Sources said the victim had identified two African nationals from police records who could be involved in the incident.
