With fresh Covid-19 cases down to a trickle, the Delhi government announced easing of restrictions on travel in the national capital by allowing metro and bus services to run to full capacity from Monday.
Cinema halls and theatres in the city will be allowed to reopen at half their capacity, while bars too shall be permitted to operate at 50% of the seating capacity from 12 noon to 10 pm, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said.
“All shops will be permitted to function on all days of the week without any distinction of essential and non-essential goods and services between 10 am and 8 pm,” the DDMA order said.
Auditoriums, assembly halls can also reopen with a 50% seating capacity. In both buses and metros, no standing passenger will be allowed, the order said.
Wedding events can take place with the presence of a maximum of 100 persons and the same cap is applicable for funerals too, the DDMA said.
Religious places will also open in the national capital but visitors will not be allowed.
The DDMA has also allowed business-to-business (B2B) exhibitions, but only for business visitors.
On Saturday, Delhi reported 66 fresh cases of Covid-19 and no deaths. The capital has 587 active cases.
The national capital had witnessed a brutal second wave of Covid-19 in April-May with a maximum of 28,395 fresh cases reported on April 21. Daily cases began to decline gradually in the latter part of May.
