Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena is going to take legal action against AAP leaders including Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi, Jasmine Shah and Durgesh Pathak for "defamatory and false" allegations of corruption.
Delhi Assembly proceedings were adjourned till Thursday following slogan shouting by ruling AAP MLAs who demanded a CBI probe into the alleged 'Operation Lotus' by the BJP.
The by-election to fill the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by BJP's Manik Saha will be held on September 22, the Election Commission announced on Wednesday.
The seat fell vacant as Manik Saha became the chief minister of Tripura.
Saha was elected as Rajya Sabha parliamentarian on April 22. Earlier, he was the president of BJP Tripura unit in 2020.(IANS)
BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi took a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrashekar Rao, saying their meeting scheduled for Wednesday is a "get-together of two daydreamers".

AAP MLAs in Delhi will meet the CBI director on Wednesday to demand a probe into the alleged 'Operation Lotus' of the BJP to topple opposition ruled state governments, party leader Atishi said.
A delegation of 10 AAP MLAs will meet the CBI director at 3 pm, Atishi said at a press conference.
Congress MP and G-23 leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday raised objections to the party not making public the names of electors for the party president poll, and said it must be published on the AICC website to ensure transparency. He also asked why anyone seeking to contest the Congress president's election should go to the PCC office to get the electoral roll as this does not even happen in a club election.(PTI)

Private liquor shops will be a thing of the past for the national capital as they will be replaced by over 300 Delhi government vends from Thursday due to the switch over from the Excise Policy 2021-22 to the old regime, officials said on Wednesday.
Nearly 250 private liquor vends, licensed under now-withdrawn Excise Policy 2021-22, are running currently in the city.
The Excise officials said the liquor supply will improve from first week of September due to opening of more shops.
"Currently, there are nearly 250 private shops that will be replaced by over 300 government vends. So there will be more shops and the number will grow further in the coming days as 500 shops are planned to be opened by four Delhi government undertakings," said a senior Excise department officer.(PTI)
The seven BJP MPs of Delhi have written to Lt. Governor V KSaxena seeking a probe into the allegations levelled by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia that AAP MLAs were offered Rs 20 crore from the saffron party to switch sides.
Addressing a press briefing here on Wednesday, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said: "We have taken the allegations of the Arvind Kejriwal gang seriously, and therefore we have written a letter to the L-G. We have demanded a forensic investigation into the allegations.(IANS)

As soon as the House convened for discussion on the confidence motion, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta asked Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla to take up his calling attention motion, even as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi tried to raise the issue of alleged "Operation Lotus" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Opposition MLAs protested against it.
Both sides resorted to slogan shouting, prompting Birla to adjourn the House till 11.30 am.
This is the third day of the special session that was disrupted with ruling AAP and BJP MLAs forcing adjournments.(PTI)

A 36-year-old man was arrested for alleged killing a person who refused to give him Rs 100 to buy marijuana in west Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Lal Babu, a resident of Moti Nagar, they said.
On Monday, police received information about a stabbing incident under the Shadipur Flyover Railway Track. Naseem Alam, who was injured in the incident, was taken to RML hospital where he was declared brought dead, a senior police officer said.(PTI)
