DSP resigns to fight Assembly polls

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vibhor Singh, a National Students Union of India (NSUI) office bearer before he joined state administrative service, has put in his papers to fight elections.

According to official sources, Vibhor Singh has submitted his resignation with three months’ salary to Police Headquarters at Naya Raipur. It is said that he had a long interaction with senior Congress party leaders before taking the plunge. He is keen on Kota assembly seat, where he had served as a town inspector for long. The seat is represented by sitting Congress MLA Dr Renu Jogi, wife of former Chief Minister Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi.

During his deputation at Balrampur, he was injured in a Naxal attack, which earned him an out of turn promotion by the police department.

In a statement, he said he was pained by the backwardness of his birth place. He wished to work for the cause of farmers, workers, youth and women of the area.
