Family members of Kalu Ram Bachanram (26), who was lynched on Wednesday afternoon in Bengaluru, suspect that he was a victim of a kidney racket.

The video in which Kalu, a resident of Nimaj village of Rajasthan's Pali district, was lynched over suspicion that he was a child kidnapper is already viral on social media.

The 22-year-old Sona Ram, who last spoke with his older brother on Tuesday, suspected that Kalu had fallen prey to a kidney donation racket, and that his life was in danger.

“On Tuesday afternoon, my brother called us twice. He appeared disturbed and repeatedly said that there is a threat to his life, and there are people who want to kill him and sell his kidneys and eyes. He sounded disturbed and he cried over the phone,” said Sona.

However, his family could not confirm whether Kalu had undergone any blood tests or medical examination in Bengaluru.

“He called at 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm from two different numbers. He said a group of people had brought him from Pune to Bengaluru and now wanted to extract his body parts. He said 'this is my last phone call to you because they will not let me live',” Sona added.

Reacting to his brother’s disturbed phone call, Sona claimed that he immediately went to the nearest police station in Jaitaran to lodge a complaint, but they refused to take up the matter.

When Deccan Herald contacted Rajendra Singh Devra, Circle Officer of the Nimaj Police Circle, he said, “We did not receive any complaint from his family members. We only received a phone call from the Chamrajpet police station on Wednesday around 3.30 pm. We identified the victim and traced his family and informed them of the developments."
