A day before the crucial tenth round of talks with representatives of protesting farmers on controversial newfarmlaws, the Centre on Monday said both sides want to resolve the long-continuing stalemate at the earliest but it was getting delayed due to involvement of people of other ideologies.
Asserting that the newfarmlaws are in the interest of thefarmingcommunity, the government said obstacles do come whenever good things or measures are taken and it is taking longer to resolve the issue as farmers' leaders want a solution their own way. (PTI)
From taking centre stage to handling backstage responsibilities, managing crowd and collecting donations, women farmers took over the reins of the ongoing agitation againstfarmlaws at multiple Delhi border points on Monday as they marked the day as 'Women Farmers' Day'.

Signs of discord appeared to emerge among the agitating farmers after the Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), spearheading the anti-farm laws protests, on Monday distanced itself from a prominent Haryana-based farm leader, accusing him of hobnobbing with political parties.
“SKM is not associated with the “all-party meeting” taken up by Gurnam Singh Chaduni with political parties,” SKM leaders Darshan Pal, Shiv Kumar Kakkaji, Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, Yogendra Yadav, Balbir Singh Rajewal and Hannan Mollah said in a statement.
Union ministerDharmendraPradhan on Monday said the protests against the Centre's farm laws were just a few people in disagreement, and added that the changes allow farmers to sell their produce anywhere like traders.
Speaking to reporters in Betul, the Union minister for petroleum and gas also took a swipe at protesters claiming it was difficult to make those understand who wanted to remain asleep. (PTI)

Days before the tenth round of talks with agitating farmers in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Sunday asked them to shed the stubbornness over the demand for the repeal of the farm laws and suggest amendments.
Nearly 800 science students, researchers and faculty in Bengaluru and institutions around India have signed a letter expressing solidarity with farmers over the farm laws.
They said the letter was a result of the government’s “failure to follow due process and its apathy towards genuine concerns”.
Agitating farmers on Sunday announced that they will go ahead with the ‘KisanParade’ on Republic Day, but made it clear that they will not disrupt the official celebrations.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday the pleas relating to controversial farm laws and the ongoing farmers' protest at Delhi borders.
The apex court may take into account the matter of recusal of a member of the committee set up by it to resolve the impasse.
