Mobile internet services restored in 7 Haryana districts

Mobile internet services, which were suspended on February 11 in view of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march call by protesting farmers' unions, were restored in seven districts of Haryana on Sunday morning.

Authorities partially reopen the Singhu and Tikri borders between Delhi and Haryana, which had been sealed since the protests started on February 13.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal was interrupted during her speech as people object to her raising the farmers' protest at the inauguration of AIIMS Bathinda by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'virtually'.

The farmers will continue to stay put at the two border points until February 29, when the next course of action will be decided, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher had said on Friday.

Will burn effigy of WTO today: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Monday said that the agitating farmers unions will burn the effigy of WTO, further warning that the protests against the Union government for delay in addressing their demands, will only intensify.

This comes after another farmer member was severely injured on Sunday as the Haryana police went violent on the protesting groups.

Farmers have started heading towards Delhi in tractors.

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said, "A program to take out a 'Tractor chain' has been decided. Tractors will be parked on the highway that leads to Delhi, especially the divider highway...It was decided to register a different kind of protest so that the government would listen to us and not forget the farmers."

"We had gone to Chandigarh for a meeting of Sanyukt Morcha. We have formed a 6-member committee. It has been formed to hold dialogues with all the farmer organisations that are separate from Sanyukt Morcha...If any organisation wants to join the Sanyukt Morcha, it can have a dialogue with the committee," said Tikait.

We (farmers) have not received a message (from the government): Farmer leader

Farmers leaders held a press conference at the Shambhu border on Monday where they said that the Union government is yet to further convey their further steps on the demands of agrarians. “We (farmers) have not received a message (from the government) yet. The path to having a dialogue is always open. We are protesting here to have a conversation. So, whenever there will be one, we will attend the meeting,” a farmer leader told PTI.

Delhi Police intensifies checking at the border by putting up barricades

There was heavy traffic at the Chilla border from Delhi towards Noida due to the checking.
