After BJP MLA from Bishnupur in West Bengal's Bankura district Tanmay Ghosh joined the Trinamool Congress on Monday, another BJP MLA joined the TMC on Tuesday. Das joined the TMC in presence of the TMC's secretary-general Partha Chatterjee and woman’s wing president Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. Speaking to reporters, Das said that he left the BJP as he was feeling uncomfortable at the party.
He also said that his decision to leave the TMC in the first place was due to misunderstanding and it was a mistake.
“I left the TMC because of a misunderstanding. It was a mistake. I was unable to work in the BJP. I felt suffocated. Hence I returned to the TMC. The BJP leaders do not understand the Bengali sentiment and culture,” said Das.
Chatterjee said that Das was unable to cope with BJP’a destructive politics and hence appealed to the TMC leadership to allow him to return to the party. "Our party has agreed to take him back."
