The Ahmedabad police's Cyber Crime Branch on Friday registered an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a designated terrorist and founder of banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
Pannun made pre-recorded voice calls to nearly 60 people including policemen, lawyers, and journalists while claiming to turn the upcoming Cricket World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium into "World Terror Cup".
The cyber cell has registered the FIR against Pannun for waging war against the government of India (IPC 121), promoting enmity between different groups (IPC 153A), criminal conspiracy (IPC 120B), sections of Unlawful Activities (prevention) Act and IT Act.
FIR mentions that Pannun made the pre-recorded voice calls during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Gujarat visit between September 26 and September 27.
The voice recording stated, "On October 5, from Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, it will not be start of Cricket World Cup, but this will be the beginning of World Terror Cup. Sikhs for Justice is going to storm Ahmedabad with Khalistan flag. We are going to take revenge of Shaheed Nijjar's assassination. We are going to use ballot against your bullets. We are going to use vote against your violence."
The FIR states that people from across the country received Pannun's threat through a pre-recorded voice message sent from a foreign number- 447418343648.
The FIR has been filed on the basis of a written complaint filed by sub inspector H N Prajapati of the cyber cell.
The FIR says, "Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a designated terrorist by the Government of India and is running an organisation named Sikhs for Justice from a foreign country".
Police officials said that similar voice calls were made to several Gujarat-based journalists several months ago.
