New Delhi: In what is seen as an attack on the Opposition over the Hindenburg issue, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday claimed that the country is "moving at nuclear speed" but some people who are "unable to digest it" want to "create obstacles, (and) bring instability" by taking randomly surfaced issues as authentic.

Dhankhar's remarks came at the flagging event off a 'Tiranga Bike Rally' as part of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign here amid the Opposition I.N.D.I.A. parties demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe and removal of Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch over latest reports from the US short-seller. The ruling BJP has declined to accede to the demand calling it a "sham" aimed at undermining the Indian economy

The Vice President did not mention the Opposition or Hindenburg directly in his address but said India is no longer a nation with a potential or a promise but a nation on the rise as never before.

"Friends, countrymen, with our rapid pace of development, we are moving ahead at nuclear speed. Some people are unable to digest this; they want to create obstacles, bring instability. They are thinking that if India continues to grow at this pace, then it will certainly become Vishwa Guru. Those who bring obstruction, such people take randomly surfaced issues as authentic," he said.

"I caution the nation, I urge the citizens to be extremely alert against such forces, sinister forces, with pernicious designs. Their only motive being to destabilise Bharat, so that our progress is impeded," the Vice President said.

He said he is sure that people will take a pledge to blunt anti-national forces and that the tricolour in every home inspires us to unite and neutralise the forces hostile to India.

"I appeal to all fellow citizens that in all conditions and circumstances, country's interest should be above the interests of an individual, politics and society. Be united to defeat enemies of our nation who cannot stomach our unprecedented rise and development," he said.

Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Kiren Rijiju and Mansukh Mandaviya were also present at the function. The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign was started under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2022.

On the campaign, Dhankhar said it was launched to encourage the countrymen to hoist the tricolour on the occasion of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. "Now it has become a movement. Now crores of people hoist the tricolour on top of their houses, a new record will be made on August 15, every house will have the tricolour," he said.
