The Monster Employment Index India that provides a monthly snapshot of online job demand, rose to 128 last month. The figure is an increase of about four per cent as compared to 123 in August, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Monster India said that 21 of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Index exhibited positive month-on-month growth trends.
"In September Indian employers returned to recruitment market in substantial numbers following the summer months' lull in activity," Managing Director (India/Middle East/South East Asia) Sanjay Modi said.
"The longer-term trends in the Index continue to track the country's economic expansion, with a rise in hiring for sectors like IT, ITES, Engineering, Construction, Iron and Steel; Healthcare, Automotive suggesting continued strength in business activity," he noted.
As per the Index, realty sector, too, witnessed good hiring activities in September, with "monthly and six-month growth at 17 per cent and 83 per cent, respectively."
Last month, there was higher demand for IT professionals as well as increased opportunities for customer service, marketing and communications.
"Mirroring trends in IT sector, demand for IT professionals rebounded to record this month's (September) largest gain among all occupation groups," the statement said.
However, the hiring activities in finance and accounts section were sluggish. As many as 12 of the 13 cities covered in the report witnessed increased online job opportunities increase.
"Chennai with a 12 per cent month-on-month growth led the major metropolitan markets in online job growth followed by Hyderabad (eight per cent)
"The month also saw job opportunities rebounding in Delhi-NCR," it added.
