Nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar is the new chairman of the board of governors of IIT, Roorkee. President Pranab Mukherjee approved his name for the post.
IIT-Roorkee had proposed giving a second term to its current board of governors’ chairman, Ashok Mishra.
However, the HRD ministry did not accept the proposal and recommended Kakodkar's name for the post. The ministry will now issue a notification on Kakodkar’s appointment.
