Rajya Sabha Polls Highlights: BJP wins UP, Himachal; Congress bags KarnatakaAfter polling ended for 15 Rajya Sabha seats across Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka on Tuesday, three Congress candidates, along with one from BJP, secured victories in Karnataka. Those who were elected to the Upper House are Ajay Maken, G C Chandrasekhar and Syed Naseer Hussain, all belonging to the Congress, and Narayansa K Bhandage of the BJP. In a setback for the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has claimed victory for its candidate in the sole Rajya Sabha seat despite holding only 25 out of 68 seats in the Assembly. The BJP has claimed that the Congress has been reduced to a minority in the assembly after the Rajya Sabha polls and has no moral ground to continue. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP has won eight, out of ten, Rajya Sabha seats, while SP bagged two seats in the state. The loss of third seat hints at cross-voting in favour of the BJP.
