A forum of Opposition parties in Assam has written to President Droupadi Murmu seeking "sacking" of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma over his "communal and divisive" statement in the Assembly on Tuesday. The letter was sent through Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, today.
On Tuesday, Sarma said in the Assembly that he would take sides to stop "Miya" Muslims from "taking over" entire Assam. On Wednesday, the Opposition parties lodged an FIR against Sarma asking for his arrest. They said Sarma was trying to create communal riot in the state for political gains.
Former Jharkhand CM and ex-JMM leader Champai Soren on Thursday said that he is going to join BJP to protect the existence of tribals.

Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar writes a letter to Governor CV Ananda Bose expressing his grievance against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly inciting violence in Kolkata.
"I am writing to bring to your urgent attention the recent statements made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her address to the Student Wing of TMC in Kolkata. She brazenly incited the gathering by declaring, 'I never sought revenge, but now, do what needs to be done.' This blatant endorsement of revenge politics from the state's highest office is concerning. Furthermore, she also made inflammatory remarks, stating, "Remember, if Bengal burns, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also burn.' This is not the voice of a person in a constitutional position; it is the rhetoric of an anti-national..." reads the letter.
"The way Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue has been made fun of, the whole of Maharashtra is hurt. You want to get it inaugurated by the Prime Minister and to make it a big event, you built the statue in 6 months, which could have taken 3 years to be built and someone who has no experience in building statues was given the order to do it. All things should be made public in a transparent manner... I think the Chief Minister should apologise and someone should accept responsibility and resign...Corruption has happened in this matter," said Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan.
