On June 25 to be observed as Samvidhan Hatya Divas in remembrance of the 1975 Emergency, Congress leader P Chidambaram said, "Why is the BJP not going back to the 18th or the 17th century? 75 per cent of the Indians living today were born after 1975. Emergency was a mistake and it was accepted by Indira Gandhi. We have amended the Constitution so that an Emergency cannot be imposed so easily. What is the point of debating the rights and wrongs of Emergency 50 years later?... The BJP must forget the past. We have learnt the lessons from the past?"
"People have started to understand the lies of BJP. Out of the 13 by-polls, BJP was only able to win 2. This indicates that the BJP is going to lose state elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and other states. There is no religious place where they have not lost. They lost Ayodhya, Chitrakoot and Sitapur in UP. They also lost Rameshwaram. BJP cannot win any state if unfair means are not adopted. 16,000 houses have been demolished without any notice, thousands have become homeless. Somewhere that had to end," he said.
"I don't have a faith on PM Modi's words. There is a reason. A Citibank report states that India will not have enough jobs even with 7% growth, in reality it is 6%. "Right after the look Sabha elections, we have won 12-13 seats in 4-5 states, clearly indicates that the BJP's graph has been falling. Had the Lok Sabha elections been organised after 6-8 months, BJP would not have won more than 120 seats. For the first time, NDA parties are performing better than BJP in their respective states and BJP is absolutely relying on them. BJP has a multiple organ failure and is failing in multiple states. It is soon headed to an ICU," he said.

BJP has only got two seats out of 13 in (Assembly bypolls) results, this shows that they are tired of this government," said Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar on Assembly bypolls results.
