PM Modi to visit Maharashtra, Rajasthan today 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jalgaon in Maharashtra on Sunday to felicitate 11 lakh new 'Lakhpati Didis' who achieved the mark during the third term of his government.

A statement on Saturday said Modi would also release a revolving fund of Rs 2,500 crore that would benefit about 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh self-help groups (SHGs).

On the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the census, RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha said, "There has been no census after 2021. This has happened for the first time in this country. Why is it being stopped? There is concern, and doubt that in such a huge country, where the census did not stop even in the most difficult times."

"No rocket science is needed for this, but a column has to be added and the reality of the society will be revealed based on that column...If we do not want to achieve this, then obviously we want to maintain the same system that 2.5-3 per cent of people keep deciding the fate of 96 per cent of people," he added.

Addressing the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that people of Poland respect Maharashtrians a lot.

"Yesterday, I returned from a trip abroad. I went to a European country, Poland. The people of Poland respect the people of Maharashtra a lot. There is a Kolhapur Memorial in the capital there. The people of Poland have built this memorial to honour the spirit of service and hospitality of the people of Kolhapur," he said.

He further added that during the Second World War, thousands of mothers and children from Poland were given shelter by the royal family of Kolhapur.

My govt did more for women in 10 years than was done since Independence: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said his government has done more for women in the last 10 years than was done by all the previous regimes since Independence. “Till 2014, less than Rs 25,000 crore loans were given to women self-help groups but in the last 10 years, Rs 9 lakh crore was given,” Modi said. After meeting with the Lakhpati Didis at Jalgaon, he released the Rs 2,500 crore revolving fund benefiting 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh self-help groups. The Lakhpati Didi scheme is not only about boosting the income of women, but also about empowering future generations, Modi said.

PM Modi also referred to his Independence Day remark on 'secular civil code', claiming that the judiciary has been advocating this for decades. He also emphasised that it was the "collective responsibility" of Indians to simplify our laws to "make them clear".

I tried to escape, call somebody but nothing worked…he came back and (sexually) assaulted me…he also threatened me that even if I spoke out about the assault, nobody was going to believe me and I am nothing and I would never be an actor. He told me that he could cast me for various movies but for every opportunity I would have to sleep with him and this is how everyone has come…when I got a chance I escaped and I just wanted to go home…I was mentally disturbed after that...I went through a lot. I lost my self-esteem and I blamed myself, I felt I did something wrong. I was given names like ‘troublemaker’ and ‘attention seeker’…"
