Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra Live Highlights: Will defeat BJP-RSS' politics of hate, says Cong as Rahul walks amid locals in ManipurRahul Gandhi embarked upon the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Sunday evening from Manipur's Thoubal. Earlier, before the start of the yatra, attacking the BJP-led centre and PM Modi, Rahul said how it is a shame that PM Modi only came here to ask for votes but not when the people are in trouble. Gandhi asserted that the party will present a new vision for India that will be based on harmony, brotherhood and equitability and devoid of hatred, violence and monopoly. Before Rahul, Kharge addressed the crowd assembled in Thoubal. Kharge said everyone has faith in God but one should not resort to "dhongbaazi (deception)" for securing votes. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will pass through 100 Lok Sabha constituencies in 15 states. That's all for today, we will be back tomorrow with more updates on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Goodnight!

Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to commence today from Manipur

Almost a year after he concluded his 4,000 km Kanyakumari to Srinagar walkathon, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is embarking on a 6,713 km Manipur to Mumbai ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ (BJNY) starting Sunday - just weeks before the start of Lok Sabha elections.

The yatra, which Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will kick off from Manipur’s Thoubal, also comes just eight days ahead of the consecration of Ram temple, invitation to which the party leaders "respectfully declined" terming it an “RSS-BJP event” aimed at reaping “electoral gains”.

Danish Ali joins Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Read his statement below

Today, I have decided to join Shri Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. This is a very important moment for me. I have arrived here after much soul searching. In the atmosphere prevailing in the country, I had two options. Either to accept the status quo and ignore the exploitation of Dalits, backwards, tribals, minorities and other marginalised and poor sections, or to launch an all-out campaign against this atmosphere of fear, hate, exploitation and the deepening divide in the country. My conscience pushed me to take the second option. Taking this decision came naturally to me as I was myself at the receiving end of a similar attack in Parliament, where swear words were used by a member of the ruling party against me and my religion. My call for justice and action against the guilty member of Parliament fell on deaf ears. Instead of punishing my attacker, the ruling establishment rewarded him. I have realised that the attack on me was part of a larger plan to create an atmosphere of fear and hate in the country. In that hour of distress, Rahul Gandhi ji was the first leader to express solidarity with me and stand by me and my family. The purpose of Rahul Gandhi Ji’s yatra is to get justice for the marginalised and exploited section. This yatra is a call for action against divisive forces. This yatra is a drive to unite the people of our country against fear, hate, exploitation and divisiveness. I have decided to join him in this yatra because I feel I would be failing in my duty as a politician and a social worker if I did not join the biggest drive for unity and justice. I pray for the success of this yatra and for the future of my country.
