MP BJP working committee member arrested for 'misbehaving' with CM Yadav's OSD; gets bail

A Madhya Pradesh BJP working committee member was granted bail on Monday a day after he was arrested for allegedly creating ruckus and misbehaving with the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at a party function here, a police officer said. Hirendra Bahadur Singh, according to a police complaint filed by Naib Tehsildar Nimesh Pandey, hurled abuses, created rumpus and misbehaved with his boss, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Lokesh Sharma, at the BJP function organised at the institute on Saturday, he said.

AAP to launch Delhi poll campaign with Manish Sisodia's foot march on August 14

The AAP will kick-start its campaign for the Delhi Assembly polls with senior leader Manish Sisodia undertaking a foot march to reach out to voters in all 70 constituencies, senior party leader Sandeep Pathak said on Monday.

The Delhi Assembly elections are likely to be held early next year.

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Sisodia, who was released from Tihar jail on Friday, held a meeting with AAP MLAs on Monday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita also participated in the meeting.

Sisodia held a meeting with senior party leaders on Sunday. He will meet AAP councillors on Tuesday.

Will fight assembly elections in JK: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Monday said he will fight the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that the Election Commission will announce the poll dates by the end of this month.

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, however, refused to divulge which constituency he would contest the elections from.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party function in Doda district, Abdullah said, "He (his son Omar Abdullah) does not want to fight the elections under the present setup. He has made up his mind that he will not fight the elections till the restoration of statehood (of Jammu and Kashmir). However, I am going to fight the elections as I am not dead."

UP assembly bypolls: SP announces in-charges for 6 constituencies, Congress for 10 seats

Samajwadi Party and Congress on Monday announced its in-charges for the Uttar Pradesh assembly by-elections that are to be held on 10 seats.

The SP announced in-charges for six seats, while the Congress declared in-charges for all 10 assembly constituencies.

While SP national general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav will be in-charge of Katehari seat, Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad and Leader of Opposition in UP Legislative Council Lal Bihari Yadav will be in-charge of Milkipur seat, a senior SP leader said.

K'taka HC reserves order on CBI petition against withdrawal of consent in D K Shivakumar case

The Karnataka High Court on Monday reserved its order on petitions filed by the CBI and BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, challenging the state government's move to withdraw consent for a probe by the investigation agency in the disproportionate assets case against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.

A division bench, consisting of Justice K Somashekhar and Justice Umesh M Adiga, reserved the order after extensive hearings.

Congress to gherao ED offices across India demanding SEBI chairman's removal : KC Venugopal

"We will hold a massive national-level agitation on 22nd August throughout the country. We will gherao the Enforcement Directorate Office in each state capital demanding the SEBI Chairman to be removed from that position," says AICC General Secretary and MP, KC Venugopal

He further said, "Today, we convened a meeting of AICC General Secretaries, Incharges and PCC presidents under the leadership of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

"We had a discussion about one of the biggest scams happening in the country right now- the Hindenburg revelations, the scam related to Adani and SEBI.

On Tuesday, Kiren Rijiju told the media that they had launched two important programmes for the Parsi and Muslim community.

Rijiju said, "Since we have seen a decline in the population of Parsi community, we will launch a Jiyo Parsi scheme to address the issue,"

He further said, "We have also launched the Haj Committee portal for 2025. This is the first time preparations for Haj has started in India.

"The applications and arrangements for the 2025 Haj have commenced already. We want the process for 2025 Haj to be completed without any issues.

"There is a large Muslim population in India and a lot of people participate in Haj so our arrangements need to be very good."
