National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that as Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi has said, the Supreme Court should take suo motu cognizance of the Hindenburg report. "This report came out yesterday. It says that SEBI chairman is involved. Rahul Gandhi has said that the Supreme Court should take suo motu cognizance of this matter the way it did earlier," he told reporters.
On Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the Election Commission of India might announce the dates between August 21-25.

Have appealed to Bengal govt for strict action: Priyanka Gandhi on doctor rape-murder case
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi condemned the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor in West Bengal and said that she has appealed to the state government to ensure justice to the victim's family.
"The incident of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College is heartbreaking. Safety of women at workplace is a big issue in the country and concrete efforts are needed for this. I appeal to the state government to take immediate and strict action in this case and ensure justice to the victim's family and fellow doctors," she wrote in a post on X.

Mamata doesn't take women seriously: Former NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma
Speaking on the alleged rape-murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical Hospital, former NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma said, "Mamata ji doesn't take women seriously. In the name of politics, she has used her own goons against the women of another party and this has been going on for years. In the same way, the (West Bengal) police just keep anybody and everybody as a (civic) volunteer without checking their background."
"It is a very serious matter. I hope this kind of case should not happen in West Bengal... Though they are saying they have arrested this man and I’ve heard this case will go to fast track court. Not only doctors, women are standing by the family of the victim. I’ve spoken to the secretary of NCW and I’ve been informed that a team has been sent to West Bengal," she added.

SP leader Nawab Singh Yadav who was arrested in Kannuaj on Monday for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl has called the allegations a 'capitalist conspiracy'.
