The Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP has constituted an election committee for the upcoming assembly elections, news agency ANI reported.

Omar Abdullah demands probe into transfers of officals

The National Conference on Friday called on the Election Commission of India (ECI) to thoroughly investigate the massive transfers in the police and civil administration, and demanded immediate suspension of the implementation of such orders.

"We are writing to the Election Commission of India that they should investigate the transfers that happened in J&K in the last 24 hours. Several officers were transferred suddenly, we doubt these transfers have been made to benefit the B and C teams of BJP by the LG which has been put here by BJP...in the last 1-2 years, the security of some leaders has been reduced and withdrawn. We request the ECI to give orders and ensure that their security is restored...," he said.

BJP will score victory for third time in Haryana: Ex-CM Manohar Lal Khattar

Former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that BJP will score a hat-trick in Haryana.

"BJP will register its victory for the third time in Haryana... Bhupinder Singh Hooda did caste based politics and the people of Haryana will think above caste based politics. In 2014, we talked about 'Haryana Ek Haryanvi Ek' and talked about ending the 3Cs - crime, corruption and caste politics...," he said.

J&K assembly polls to further strengthen roots of democracy: Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday welcomed the announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and said the polls will further strengthen the roots of democracy and open the doors to a new period of development for the region.

Shah also appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to actively participate in the elections and vote in large numbers to form a government that will sustain peace and development, and ensure a brighter future for the youth.
