BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Wednesday accused the National Conference and the People's Democratic Party of taking support from ex-militants for the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, and said the two parties want to take the Union territory back to its "trouble-filled days".
Referring to the Abdullahs and Muftis, Madhav, who is the party's in-charge for J-K, said the two families need to be shown the door.
"I have information that ex-militants are openly campaigning for the candidates of the NC and PDP. The people will have to defeat the parties who want to take J-K back to its bad days and support new leadership which wants peace and progress," Madhav told reporters here.
He was accompanying the party's candidate from Lal Chowk assembly constituency Aijaz Hussain during filing of nominations.
"Our first step will be giving back the statehood to J&K. We wanted you to get statehood before elections and that elections take place after J&K becomes a state. BJP does not want this. They wanted elections to take place first and then talk about statehood. Whether the BJP wants it or not, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc will put pressure on them and the people of J&K will get statehood..."
"The alliance government of Congress party is going to come to power here, this is going to happen. Our first task will be to fill all the government vacancies and we will extend the age to 40 years, we will regularize the daily wage workers, make them permanent and we will increase their income. Our goal will be to run the government of Jammu and Kashmir by taking everyone together, everyone should be respected, we should take everyone together...This is such a beautiful place, I will have to come here after the elections. You have made a 45-minute program for me here, you have cheated me. At least 2-3 day program should be made here, I don't get to see such a place, such lovely people, at least bring me here for 2-3 days and show me around..."
"It is such a beautiful place, I don't feel like going for next meeting. You would have seen that BJP, RSS people are spreading hatred, violence and fear, it is a fight of ideology, on the other hand, there is love and respect. We walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, 4,000 km, we gave the slogan of 'mohabbat ki dukaan', they break, we join. Hatred cannot be negated by hatred, it can only be defeated by love. PM Modi used to give big speeches, now recently he had put constitution on his head while entering the Parliament. It has happened for the first time that a state has become UT, people's rights were snatched. It is our priority to give statehood again. In 1947, we removed kings and formed democratic government, we gave the Constitution, today a king is sitting in J&K, his name is L-G but he is a king. Your money is being taken away, given to outsiders. Our first step would be to restore statehood."
"...We have been saying from the beginning that the Constitution is in danger. The rights of the people are being snatched. No one could imagine that transfers would be done on the basis of caste. Today, Uttar Pradesh is in the first position when it comes to atrocities on women...CM Yogi Adityanath should change the name of Bhartiya Janata Party and make it Bhartiya Jogi Party. When so many names have been changed then CM should change the name of Bhartiya Janata Party too..."
"I have filled the (nomination) papers from Ganderbal. Let's not talk about who is contesting from where. The people of Ganderbal have elected me thrice as a member of Parliament and once as an MLA...I gave up my seat to Ishfaq Jabbar only because I promised him to do so and then he became an MLA but he cheated the people of Ganderbal...Today, we are going to fight elections for the development of Ganderbal"
