Problems in J&K increased but commitment from government absent: Omar Abdullah on Union Budget 2024

"If you look specific to Jammu and Kashmir there is nothing considering the scale of the problems that we face. We have amongst the highest levels of unemployment in the country, development wise we have gone backwards. Investment is promised but we don't see it on the ground anywhere. Today, people are screaming for water and for electricity, so, the sum total of our problems in Jammu and Kashmir increased but commitment from the Government of India is absent."

"If there is no discrimination in the Budget, then I will have to recheck the meaning of the word discrimination in the dictionary. It's a Budget which is indicative of the coalition compulsions of the current NDA government and as I had said yesterday, there is the English proverb that 'the tail is wagging the dog', and it is very very evident when you take the Budget into consideration," claimed Congress MP Manish Tewari.

Congress can only claim credit for creating problems we are now trying to solve: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

"Some members of Congress Party have suggested that the Congress introduced the idea of the employment schemes that were proposed in the Union Budget 2024-25 by the Hon’ble FM @nsitharaman Ji yesterday. They have latched onto the phrase “employment-linked incentive” and concluded that what the Congress proposed in its so-called Nyay Patra and what the NDA government will deliver are one and the same. The Congress’ proposal was a vaguely worded statement of employment linked incentives for corporates to avail tax credits against additional employment...", Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said on 'X'.

"Their claim to this idea is like claiming credit for actual poverty alleviation by PM @narendramodi Ji, just because they coined a term “Garibi Hatao”. Congress can only claim credit for creating and perpetuating the problems we are now trying to solve, i.e. keeping our citizens poor and without access to basic employment and skills for over 65 years!", he further added.

Congress, I.N.D.I.A. bloc making adverse comments against people of Bihar, Andhra: BJP leader G V L Narsimha Rao

"This is actually the frustration of Congress and I.N.D.I.A. bloc that they are making such adverse comments against people of two states (Bihar and Andhra Pradesh). So, their comments are not necessarily targeted at just the government, but they are targeting the people of Bihar and Andhra Pradesh."

Money for calamity relief to NDA states, nothing for I.N.D.I.A. govt ruled states: Shashi Tharoor on Union Budget

While speaking about the Union Budget 2024, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, "The discrimination point was only one among many. In my case, I had 22 minutes worth of arguments. So, I am not going to confine it only to one thing. But on that particular issue, there is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that the sum total of the benefits given to the two states was obviously politically motivated".

"When Bihar gets Rs 26,000 crores for highways and Karnataka doesn't even get Rs 2,000 crores for Bengaluru's road and tunnel infrastructure, it is clearly a different approach here. You get money for calamity relief to various NDA states, you get nothing for I.N.D.I.A. government states and so on and so forth. This is a political budget but you can argue that most budgets are political, so why should we be surprised. But it's still worth pointing out", he added.
