A directive has been sent out by party president J P Nadda to chief ministers, parliamentarians, union as well as state ministers, and office-bearers to carry out programmes in their respective constituencies this weekend in order to impart knowledge regarding the Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that "Anil Deshmukh was home minister of the state (Maharashtra). He is a veteran and prominent politician of the state. However, he was sent to jail as part of a conspiracy. Before being sent to the jail, Anil Deshmukh was pressurised to name Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Aaditya Thackeray in some case otherwise ED will be sent after you. Anil Deshmukh told me this in jail two years ago. The BJP can do so, there are several leaders MPs, MLAs, who are now with the BJP. They were forced to join the party using such tactics."
Maharashtra's NCP(SP) MLA Anil Deshmukh has said that Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had pressurised the former to implicate four former Ministers of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government including the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in different cases. He also alleged that he was told that he would face an arrest if he failed to do so. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has denied these allegations.

Rashtrapati Bhavan's ‘Durbar Hall’ and ‘Ashok Hall’ renamed as ‘Ganatantra Mandap’ and ‘Ashok Mandap’ respectively
Venues for different ceremonial functions, Rashtrapati Bhavan's iconic 'Durbar Hall' and 'Ashok Hall' were on Thursday renamed 'Ganatantra Mandap' and 'Ashok Mandap', respectively.
Rashtrapati Bhavan, the office and the residence of the president of India, is a symbol of the nation, and an invaluable heritage of the people.
"Continuous efforts are being made to make it more accessible to people. There has been a consistent endeavour to make the ambience of the Rashtrapati Bhavan reflective of the Indian cultural values and ethos," a statement issued by the President's Secretariat said.
'Durbar Hall' is the venue of important ceremonies and celebrations such as the presentation of national awards.
"The term 'Durbar' refers to courts and assemblies of Indian rulers and the British. It lost relevance after India became a Republic, that is, 'Ganatantra'. The concept of 'Ganatantra' is deeply rooted in Indian society since the ancient times, making 'Ganatantra Mandap' an apt name for the venue," the statement said.
'Ashok Hall' was originally a ballroom.
"The word 'Ashok' connotes someone who is 'free from all sufferings' or is 'bereft of any sorrow'," the statement said.
Also, 'Ashoka' refers to Emperor Ashok, a symbol of unity and peaceful co-existence, it said.
"The national emblem of the Republic of India is the lion capital of Ashok from Sarnath. The word also refers to the Ashok tree, which has deep significance in Indian religious traditions as well as arts and culture. Renaming 'Ashok Hall' as 'Ashok Mandap' brings uniformity in language and removes the traces of anglicisation while upholding the key values associated with the word 'Ashok'," it said.
Two Jharkhand MLAs disqualified under anti-defection law
Jharkhand Assembly Speaker's Tribunal on Thursday disqualified two legislators under anti-defection law with effect from July 26, an official said.
The order disqualifying JMM's Lobin Hembrom and Congress's Jai Prakash Bhai Patel from the House came on the eve of the assembly’s six-day monsoon session beginning on Friday.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the BJP had initiated proceedings under the anti-defection law against Hembrom and Patel respectively in the Speaker's Tribunal.
