Several opposition MPs expressed surprise as the report of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommending the expulsion of Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in a "cash-for-query" case was not tabled in the House though it was listed on Monday's agenda.
The report was listed for presentation after the Question Hour. But it was not tabled till around 1 pm when the House adjourned for lunch. (PTI)

Bill to establish central tribal univ in Telangana introduced in Lok Sabha
A bill to establish a central tribal university in Telangana was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
According to the statement and objects of the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023 establishment of "Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University" will cater to the regional aspirations for years to come.
The proposed institution, it said, will increase access and quality of higher education and facilitate and promote higher education and research facilities for the people of Telangana.
It will also promote advanced knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in tribal art, culture and customs and advancement in technology to the tribal population of India.

Post Office Bill reflection of postal institutions' revival under NDA: Ashwini Vaishnaw
Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw asserted on Monday that the Post Office Bill, 2023 to amend the 125-year-old Indian Post Office Act is a reflection of how post offices and postal institutions were revived in the last nine years under the NDA's rule.
Moving the Post Office Bill, 2023 to be taken into consideration and passed by the Rajya Sabha, the minister said in the last nine-and-a-half years, postal services, post offices and postmen have been transformed into a service-delivery institution from being merely a mail-delivery mechanism.
At one point, it seemed that the postal services would become irrelevant and especially during the rule of the UPA, there was a situation when post offices had to be phased out, he claimed.
"This new legislation is a reflection of the way post offices and postal institutions have been revived in the last nine years," the minister said.
