In a shocking incident, the 20-year-old son of JD(U) MLA Bima Bharti was found dead on a railway track in the state capital on Friday.
The Railway Police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The cops were not sure whether it was a murder or suicide.
The controversial legislator from Rupauli, Bima Bharti, who is married to notorious gangster Awadhesh Mandal, reached the spot to take over her son Deepak Kumar's body. "Maar diya mere beta ko. (They have killed my son)," said an inconsolable Bharti.
Sources said that her son had gone to meet his friends at Musallahpur Haat in Patna late on Thursday night.
"However, his body was found on the railway track near Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH) on Friday morning," said one of Bharti's family member.
"Two persons have been detained for interrogation in this case," said Senior SP (SSP) of Patna, Manu Maharaj.
Bima Bharti, who earlier served as a minister in 2014-15, was in the news in 2016 when her husband Awadhesh Mandal escaped from the police station after he was arrested in Purnia.
Mandal faces more than 100 cases of murder, extortion, loot and kidnapping. The BJP, then in the Opposition, had charged Nitish with shielding his MLAs and their kin.
