Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the Parakram Parv at the Unified Commanders' Conference in Jodhpur.

The event organised by the Konark Corps at the Jodhpur Military station commemorated the second anniversary of the surgical strikes.

Parakram Parv is celebrated to highlight the valour and accomplishments of the army and showcases the Army might and contributions in nation building.

The prime minister paid homage to martyrs at the Konark war memorial by laying a wreath and signed the visitor's book.

Modi is expected to be briefed by the three service chiefs about the situation prevailing along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Line of Actual control along the China border and the situation in Kashmir Valley.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister was received by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Air Force Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa and Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba and accorded 'guard of honour' at the Jodhpur airport

The defence minister, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and commanders of all the three defence wings also participated in the conference.
