Eight people, including seven women, were killed and eight others injured when a lorry rammed into a stationary van at Aurad cross, about 100 km from Gulbarga, in the wee hours today.
The victims, on way to attend a funeral from Yadgir to Bidanava, were sitting on the road in front of the van as one of its tyres got punctured. The lorry, coming at full speed, crashed into the vehicle and ran over them, police said.
In another incident, four people died and 28 injured when a private bus fell into a ditch near Sirsi last night.
The bus was en route to Mumbai from Mangalore, police said.
