Two farmers were electrocuted as they came in contact with a live wire at Ayyanapura village under Chandakawadi hobli in the taluk on Wednesday
night.

Mallesh (48) and Nagendra (45) are the deceased. It is said that the electric cable had snapped from the electric pole and had fallen on the road following heavy rain. Mallesh and Nagendra were riding a motorbike and came into contact with the live wire. They died on the
spot.

Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag and Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) senior officials visited the spot and presented a compensation cheque for
Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile, farmer leaders staged a protest seeking more compensation, government jobs for the family members of the deceased and action against the negligent CESC officials.
