He said not only children but their parents are also wounded while bursting the crackers. A man’s cornea is damaged. Out of the nine people treated in the hospital, eight had small injuries. The chemicals coming out of the crackers, soil and fire cause injuries to eyes, face and other parts of the body, he said.

Dr Manjunath said parents should be careful while children burst the crackers.

A girl has received wounds in the stomach when the crackers suddenly burst in her hand.

The injured patients are being treated at Sri Narasimharaja (SNR) District Hospital, R L Jalappa Hospital, ETCM Hospital, Vasan Eye Care and Rotary Eye Care Hospital in the city.
