The Deputy Commissioner had banned the movement of iron ore during rainy season in the district through a directive issued on June 18. However, many trucks were transporting iron ore to the New Mangalore Port through national highways violating the order. Following this, Tahsildar A N Manjunath seized four trucks through an operation. Seized trucks were handed over to the Panambur police.
