Udupi: The Malpe police have arrested seven Bangladeshi immigrants who were staying illegally in India with fake Aadhaar cards.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr Arun K said one of the Bangladeshi nationals who was staying with the arrested had tried to travel to Dubai via Mangaluru International Airport using a fake passport. However, immigration officials at the airport detained Muhammed Manik and handed him over to the Bajpe police. A case was registered against him at Bajpe police station. Based on the information furnished by the Bajpe police and Immigration officials to the Udupi police, the Malpe police arrested seven persons at Hoode village of Paduthonse in Udupi taluk, said the SP.

The police are interrogating them to get more details.

The arrested are Hakeem Ali (24), Sujon S K alias Farooq (19), Ismail S K (30), Kareem S K (20), Salam S K (22), Rajikul S K (20), Mohammed Sojib (20), all hailing from Bangladesh.

Without possessing any valid documentation for entering India, they had illegally entered India with fake Aadhaar cards.

According to the police, Kajol from Agartala had helped these seven Bangladeshi nationals in creating fake Aadhaar cards. Usman from Bangladesh had brought these arrested seven to India illegally in the name of employment. Kajol and Usman are still at large. The arrested had obtained fake Indian Aadhaar cards, thus committed fraud and deception against the Indian government. Malpe police have registered a case under Sections 19(2),318(4),336(2), 336(3), 340(2) and 190 of BNS.
