7 of a family die of food poisoning

The tragedy occurred soon after the members of the family consumed puffed rice (a popular dish of North Karnataka called ‘mandaal vaggarane’) and started developing complications. They were rushed to the nearest primary health centre at Wadagera.

Despite giving first aid at the centre one woman died. Immediately, the remaining were rushed to Yadgir hospital.

Four persons died on way to the hospital while two others succumbed at the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as: Siriyamma (10), Maremma (8), Marilinga (5), Thayamma (20), Thippamma (30), Marilingappa (25), and Basamma (60).

Four children, who took seriously ill, have been admitted to the Yadgir hospital.

Ex gratia

When District in-charge minister Laxman Savadi, who also holds Co-Operation portfolio, visited Konkal, the people mobbed him demanding adequate ex gratia to the kin of all the diseased.

The minister had come here to attend a series of meetings.
