Seven students and two Guide teachers from Puttur will take part in the 17th Nippon Scouts Jamboree to be held at Suzu in Japan from August 4 to 10.
Speaking to reporters, Ranjitha Hemanath Shetty Kavu who is studying in I PU at Ambika PU College said, “42 Scouts and Guides and three teachers (Guider) from India will be taking part in the Scout Jamboree. Out of 42 Scouts and Guides, 23 are from Karnataka along with three Guiders."
Puttur Ramakrishna High School teacher and Guides Leader Sunitha, Bethany School Guides Edwans Maithreyi, Sharada Vidyalaya Scouter Dinesh Kambalagadde along with 23 students from Karnataka will leave for Japan.
Ranjitha Shetty said the participating students are Attavara Vamshika, Nidhi Jayakumar and Arpitha from Guides of Bethany School, Bhuvith Rai Belinjaguthu, Dhiren of Ramakrishna High School, Vishak Naveen of Ambika PU College respectively.
The team will leave on July 30. They will meet Ministers U T Khader, Jayamala, MLCs Ivan D’Souza, Harish Kumar, ZP President Meenakshi Shanthigodu, Vice President Kasturi Panja, CEO Dr M R Ravi.
Before leaving, the team will meet Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara.
Rs 1.50 lakh expense
Each student will have to shell out Rs 1.50 lakh to take part in Jamboree in Japan.
Out of the 7 students from Puttur, the expense of Deevith Rai will be borne by Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar.
The deputy chief minister decided to take care of the educational needs of Deevith Rai after he was called by Deevith and the boy highlighted the plight of teachers transfer in his school.
