Right to information (RTI) activist H T Srinivas said Right to Education (RTE) Act is being misused by private schools in nexus with education department officials and he would file a case in the court of law, seeking justice.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Srinivas said, parents, who do not belong to economically backward families, are misusing quota in private schools under RTE Act for their children by providing fake and false certificates.
Stating that he has got neither reply to his complaints nor information under RTI queries from the education department, he said at least 60 per cent of the seats under RTE Act reservation have been usurped by economically stable families.
“One person has applied for a seat for his daughter in different schools along with domicile certificate of their respective localities. In some cases, the address in application and enclosed domicile certificate do not tally. In one case, the applicant has mentioned ‘behind MLA’s house, 10th ward’. But the city municipal authorities have issued domicile certificate to him also,” Srinivas said.
“In an extreme case, the principal of a reputed school has applied for a seat for his daughter in his own school under RTE Act quota,” he said.
