Noted Sandalwood actor Dhananjay has proved to be different from others by choosing not to celebrate his birthday and donating the money collected from his fans to the Deccan Herald-Prajavani Kerala-Karnataka Relief Trust. Dhananjay on Saturday contributed Rs 50,000 collected from his fans’ associations across the state to the Trust.
“A day prior to my birthday (Aug 23) I had appealed to my fans on Twitter that rather than spending on flower and cake, the money can be pooled in to help flood victims in Kodagu. I had put up the same video on other social platforms. In fact, along with my friends, I had arranged for a donation box and all the contributions from the fans were dropped into the box,” Dhananjay told DH.
Adding his bit to the pooled in money of Rs 12,740, Dhananjay handed over a cheque to Deccan Herald-Prajavani Relief Trust.
In fact, he sought donations from those who came for selfies with him. “It was not mandatory and those who were interested donated money. I am happy with it. In case if the need arises I am ready to chip in any manner to help the victims rebuild their lives,” he said. Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Madikeri, Karnataka Government Employees’ Association state president
H K Ramu said that that the association has contributed Rs 102 crore to the chief minister’s relief fund.
